We are Jayson and Allyson Barnes, with our two favorite people, Kash and Remi. As a husband and wife owned business, we are proud to call Baldwin County home. Our kids go to Fairhope East Elementary and stay busy with soccer and flag football, which keeps us close to the community we love.
We believe in shopping local, supporting our neighbors and investing in the place we call home, and that is the same thinking behind Southern Roofing and Exteriors. We started out as third party insurance adjusters, walking roofs and working claims, which is where we learned how a house is really assessed and where homeowners get left without a straight answer. So we do it the other way round: get on the roof, tell you what we find, lay out the options, and treat the house the way we would want ours treated.
That means exceptional craftsmanship, service that feels personal, and real attention to the small details, on homes people are trusting us to look after. For us it is personal. This is home, this is our community, and every home we serve matters.

- SidingSiding that keeps weather out of the walls and changes how the house reads from the street. We help you settle on the material and the color, then fit it carefully, right down to the trim around the windows and the corners.
- GuttersGutters and downspouts sized for the roof above them, hung so water leaves the roofline and the foundation instead of collecting against them. It is a small part of the roof and the one that does the most damage when it is wrong.

A roof is a stack of layers and only the top one shows from the street. Here is what sits underneath it, in the order it goes on.
Roof decking
The boards the whole roof is fastened to. If they are soft, nothing above them holds.
Drip edge
Metal along the edges that sends water into the gutter instead of behind the fascia.
Ice and water shield
A self sealing membrane at the eaves and valleys, where water backs up first.
Underlayment
The layer under the shingles that keeps the deck dry if a shingle ever lifts.
Starter course
The first row at the edge, sealed down so wind cannot get under the roof.
Shingles
The part you see from the street, and the only layer most people ever ask about.

Do you handle insurance claims?
Yes. We began in this trade as third party insurance adjusters, so we know how a roof is assessed and what an adjuster is looking for. We will inspect the roof, document what we find, and walk you through the claim so you are not guessing at any point.
Is the roof inspection free?
Yes. Ask for a free roof inspection and we will come out, get on the roof, and tell you what shape it is in. If it does not need work yet, we will say so.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We have flexible financing options so a roof or an exterior project does not have to wait on the whole amount up front. Ask us and we will go through the terms with you.
